First Persian-Kazakh Dictionary Published in Almaty
Comprising approximately 44,000 words, the dictionary has been written by the professor of Persian language of Taraz University based on the Amid Persian Dictionary. “There are 13 boards of Persian language in the Kazakhstan’s universities,” said Mohammadpour, adding, “Persian language is also taught in seven Almaty’s schools and this depicts the interest of Kazakhs to the rich Iranian culture and literature.” Referring to the history of Persian language in the Kazakh literature, he said, “There are many Persian words in the Kazakh literature because the Persian language was known as a scientific and literary language in the country before the Bolshevik revolution.”
“Iran’s Cultural Office will do its best to revive the Persian language among the Kazakh intellectual figures; they have found out that it is nearly impossible to understand the history of Kazakhstan without the knowledge of Persian language,” Mohammadpour concluded.
